The seventh season of Fox’s Emmy-winning "24" is facing another production delay.
The real-time drama starring Kiefer Sutherland that was scheduled to start filming Aug. 27, will now begin shooting Sept. 10 so that the writers can complete enough scripts for the new seasonlong plot.
Production start on 20th Century Fox TV/Imagine TV’s "24" originally was pushed from late July-early August to Aug. 27 when the producers’ original set-in-Africa story line fell through and they went back to the drawing board.
There has been only one new casting on the show so far — Cherry Jones as the U.S. president — with a couple of other deals at different stages.
"24" is going through a major revamping this year after coming off a lackluster sixth season.

Check out this interview 24 star Mary Lynn Rajskub did with Evan Henerson. In it she talks about how people were annoyed with her character Chloe O’Brian at first…hehe…
"People thought I was really annoying at first," says Mary Lynn Rajskub, who has played Chloe for the past five seasons. "This is the most character development I’ve ever had, and it’s only, like, five days in this person’s life."

There was some speculation as to whether or not James Morrison’s character Bill Buchanan would be in season 7 of 24, but now there’s an answer on James’ personal website. James writes:
I play Bill Buchanan, head of CTU Los Angeles, in seasons four, five and six of the FOX TV series 24. At present, it looks as though I will not be back for season seven, since the show is moving in new directions.
Update August 8: I’m going to back to the show after all. And I’m very happy about it. I’ll let you know more when I can.

In this article the 24 writing team (Michael Loceff and his cousin Joel Surnow) talk about the process of creating a 24 episode. It’s really funny!
There are constant re-writes. Loceff says "the problem with that is, when you do all the squeezing and throwing out, and squeezing and throwing out, by the time you are done, you have squeezed 6 episodes of work into one episode, so you no longer have stories for 5 episodes." Or an episode may end-up several minutes short. That’s when the race begins to think of additional story lines and finish writing, whether it’s at Loceff’s Kingston home or the writing room, which is in the same building as CTU’s studio in Chatsworth, California. Loceff says "a lot of paper-balls get tossed around. There’s people doing spit-balls at each other."
But Loceff’s got a writing system down pat with his cousin Joel Surnow, a co-creater of "24". Surnow sits at his computer and types while Loceff circles the room spewing out lines. Sometimes they use ideas they’ve saved. Loceff says "let’s see uh, the President’s wife is having an affair. Can we use that? Uh, no that didn’t work. We pull out one after another ideas, things, that we want Jack to say or do. Jack in group therapy? Not yet."
Loceff tells us Season 7 will focus on smaller and more intense story lines. but the specifics are still a mystery, even for Loceff and the writers. Read more of the article here.

The producers of 24 were at Comic-Con a few weeks ago and let us in on an interesting new detail about season 7 of 24. Apparently this next season will have no CTU at all. I wonder what Chloe will be like without her desk at CTU to hide behind? I think this could make for a very interesting season. What do you think? Will you miss CTU?

Cherry Jones has reportedly been cast as the next president on the hit Fox tv series 24. Cherry not only won the 1995 Tony Award for Best Actress but she’s also has had numerous film roles in movies such as Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood and Erin Brockovich.
Two-time Tony winner Cherry Jones will take up residence in the White House" for the seventh season of "24."
FOX offers very little information about Jones’ role in the show, except to say that when "24" returns in January, she’ll be playing President Allison Taylor. Read the rest here

Somehow I don’t think Jack Bauer fighting global warming will be as exciting as terrorists, but that’s just me. Check out this article which talks about the Fox show’s plans to tackle this issue:
Jack Bauer will take on global warming in the hit show 24 as the series aims to become the first to make its season finale "carbon neutral", Twentieth Century Fox said.
Kiefer Sutherland, who plays CTU agent Bauer, has already filmed a US public service announcement describing 24’s commitment to the issue.
Producers said they wanted to change the show’s practices in a bid to save energy and reduce carbon emissions while incorporating climate change into the series’ plot "where appropriate" in a bid to "inspire its millions of viewers" to take the issues seriously "before its too late". In this interview 24 star Elisha Cuthbert talks about wishing she had privacy and her dislike of confining clothing:
Despite the fact that she’s one of Britney’s regular drinking buddies, ‘24′ star Elisha Cuthbert has decided she’s a shy little wallflower determined to keep her private life exactly that.
Cuthbert told Total Film magazine: "Being famous does alter your privacy." This will be a revelation to anyone who has previously been in the public eye. Remarkable insight, don’t you think?
"I recently wrote a blog for the National Hockey League, which was one of the most intimate things I’ve ever done," she boohooed. I’ll bet you didn’t realise that it’s impossible to write about hockey without revealing your innermost secrets.
"I don’t like anything that’s too confining," Cuthbert continued, and anyone who has seen her running bra-less down an LA street while being pursued terrorists would have to agree.
